These two techniques can be worked together very successfully and are traditionally used together in church work embroidery. Both traditional designs of crosses and flowers as well as more contemporary designs can be worked quite successfully.

One day workshop
In one day the very basics of both techniques are taught giving a taster of each. Silk work using three shades are incorporated into a design with gold couching and cut purl work with a design suitable for a beginner.

Two to three day workshop
Designs incorporating both techniques are used to teach silk work with gold work embroidery. Basic silk work embroidery will be worked within a design which will include felt and soft string padding with cut purl work and couched gold work including 'or nué' or couching with colour.
